Today I recycled the lesser lovely greeting cards and the wretched letter of complaint detailing your faults and my anger. I've always been surprised by that letter because as time goes on your virtues grow and your faults disappear. Thus the way of loss and languishing. In another ten years you will be a dream in full and I will remember none of your disadvantages. Well, perhaps one or two of the more choice memorable ones.

However, I do not languish today. Today i rejoice and look forward to the future. I finished another crochet hat and I'm proudly wearing it right this minute. Ha!

A collection of unpublished poems that I wrote between June 1969 and September 1970. I was a lot more inventive then, making up words and expressive forms without any regard to what English teachers told me was correct. Graduating from high school freed me to write.

Themes: Dogs are loyal and spiders make connections with long threads that you sometimes can't see until you walk through them.

In this episode I read another poem that I wrote, most likely in 1998. I published it in 1999 in my ezine, shiftAlt. This poem emerged into words ready made. I just wrote it down. Technically, then, I didn't write it. I recorded it as it came through me.

I read it once in public to some friends. They really liked it. I've wanted to record and publish it since then. Now I have. I hope you like it, too.

Episode 1: We Don't Remind Ourselves

My first podcast: a recording of me reading a poem I published April 12, 2005.

The title is based on a literal translation of the German "Wir Erinnern Uns Nicht" which in English vernacular would really be "We Don't Remember." To get really technical, the phrase would be "we don't internalize ourselves" or "we don't look inside ourselves." Memories are inside, hence the way the word is derived: innern (inner).
